Dear Colleagues,

The Journal of Travel and Tourism Research proudly announces the availability of  9th volume, issue (1) 2009, with four conceptual and empirical papers, believed to stimulate further research and debate in their respective fields. 

A very distinguished team of researchers from University of Cantabri, Spain,  Héctor San Martín, Jesús Collado and & Ignacio Rodríguez del Bosque (Titled:  A New Approach to Tourist Service Satisfaction with Alternative Comparison Standards) illustrates the interconnection between customer psychological judgments and their satisfaction and they specifically test three models, offering rich insight into how touristS reach satisfaction judgments.

A philosopher, Dr. Maximiliano Korstanje, from University of Palermo/Argentina, (Titled: Contributions of Social Psychology in the study of prejudice in tourism fields) informs that while tourism studies have been devoted in understanding how the encounter between hosts and guests, less attention has been given to social psychology and the study of prejudice in societies. This paper is expected to stimulate debate in a very under-researched topic, despite its significance.

Findings reported by Sunghyup Sean Hyun, from Virginia Tech University, (Titled:  Managing Long-Term Customer Value in the Theme Park Industry: A Customer Equity-Based Approach) indicate that a branding strategy is a prerequisite in customer relationship management; a relationship marketing strategy has the greatest impact on long-term customer value management in the theme park industry.

In their conceptual work, another well-known team of researchers Umut Avcı, Fevzi Okumuş and İzzet Kılınç, from Mugla University, Central Florida University and Duzce University, advise that organizations have to manage knowledge well if they are to become learning organizations. They exemplify why hotel managers should identify facilitating and inhibiting factors in the process of creating learning organizations and take necessary actions.
